Belgian Roll

October 15th, 2009 by eddie

Netsky’s recent releases, Prisma/Tomorrows Another Day & Starlight/Young & Foolish, are both back in-stock @ redeyerecords.co.uk.

Producr.com favourite Netsky hits it bang on the money.  ‘Prisma’ lessens the upcoming winter blues with its reflective, summery piano riff as the flip ‘Tomorrows Another Day’ optimistically rolls us into autumn. What timing eh?

Starlight tumbles along with deep bass and some nice vocals whilst Young & Foolish builds up with an in-your-face beat and an irresistably smooth dark-chocolate drop.

His previous release ‘Lost In This World’ (flipped with KG’s ‘Life’ on Talking Beats) hinted at the quality to come – liquid emotion from Belgium at its very best.

The Wait Is Over…

October 15th, 2009 by eddie

…but the hype most certainly isn’t.

Emalkay’s ‘When I Look At You’ finally graced wax this week after a hefty dubplate tour. Rinsed in clubs and mixtapes, ‘When I Look At You’ will either make it into your bag as a must-play anthem, or end up recovering back home after its constant battering. Either way – you WILL end up owning this. Eastern Jam anyone? The Birmingham based producer sure hit a winner, and with the upbeat B-side ‘Angie Got Stoned’, the plate’s diversity will please all and all-alike. With the V.I.P making an appearance on GetDarker #32, we haven’t heard the last of this.

Affective Key Characteristics

If you are trying to make music of a particular feel or atmosphere, you may find this as interesting as I did.

AFFECTIVE KEY CHARACTERISTICS

from Christian Schubart’s Ideen zu einer Aesthetik der Tonkunst (1806)

C Major
Completely Pure. Its character is: innocence, simplicity, naivety, children’s talk.

C Minor
Declaration of love and at the same time the lament of unhappy love. All languishing, longing, sighing of the love-sick soul lies in this key.
